Sharing Gratitude This Holiday Season

This time of year especially, I am humbled by the blessings that I have been graced with. STC Direct Philly is going on it’s 5th year of business, we have a team bursting with talent, my wife and I just found out we’re expecting our second little girl, and we’re prepping to open 2 new office locations for our client in the 1st quarter of 2018. Life is good.

I have found though, as I try to dodge the political rants on Facebook, that so many people in life focus on what is wrong or missing rather than the abundances they have. The focus has shifted from “I have my health, a roof, food, and love” to “my car isn’t new enough, my cell phone isn’t the latest model, this person did this to me today,” and so on and so forth. I hope you’re all nodding your head in agreement!

When did we stop learning how to exude thankfulness and gratitude? Why do we only remember to count our blessings on Thanksgiving and not every day of the week. “Mindfulness,” I thought. Most people run through their lives so focused on the future that they forget to live in the present; they forget to be mindful of their surroundings.

So how do we fix it? How do we express gratitude daily rather than just on the holidays? After years of practice at STC Direct Philly, I have 3 tips to share.

3 Ways To Show Gratitude Daily

  1. Skip the email or text and verbalize your thanks. There is nothing more genuine that telling someone in person or over the phone that you are thankful for their friendship, love, gift, etc.
  2. GIVE BACK! Whether this is helping your spouse out with a chore, bringing a friend a small present, cleaning up the communal space at the office, or giving back to your school or charity, show graciousness through action.
  3. Try keeping a gratitude journal or vocalizing every morning what you’re thankful for. One day it might be a warm bed, the next the commute to work – whatever it is, blessings become more bountiful when they are acknowledged.

Here at STC Direct Philly, our management team focuses on expressing gratitude to our entire staff through positive affirmations, weekly team outings, bonuses, sporting tickets, paid travel, and by investing in our teams continuous training and development. We consider ourselves HIGHLY fortunate to work with such an elite group of professionals and I wake up every day thankful for the opportunity to lead such a hard-working, dedicated team.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, the entire STC Direct team shared what they were grateful for – be it work, family, or friends – and the result was tremendous. Hit play and be sure to share in the comments below what you’re grateful for in your personal & professional life!
